In October 2019 Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced that his social media company would ban all political advertising. He stated that political messages on the platform should reach users through the recommendation of other users – not through paid reach. Proponents argue that social media companies don’t have the tools to stop the spread of false information since their advertising platforms aren’t moderated by human beings. Opponents argue that the ban will disenfranchise candidates and campaigns who rely on social media for grassroots organizing and fundraising.

Not really, this will be impossible to enforce so it does not make a difference. People will just use bots which is arguably worse as at least advertisements intent are obvious

No, so long as the political advertising doesn’t violate social media company’s rules of service I don’t see why it should be banned.
@9Z997FS3wks3W
No, but all political advertising should be recognisably marked as to its source, and should be fact-checked to only contain verifiable information.
@9YN3S7F3wks3W
No but it should be made clear who is funding the advertisment and there should be links for people to educate themselves on the topic.

Yes, all media should. People should do their own research and all media companies and social media companies should be unbiased and impartial.

No, this is a matter of freedom of speech and public platforms should be treated in the same vein as other public utilities in this matter.

If it is not propaganda or biased then it is fine, if it is like our own RTE then it should be banned.

It's important that people have access to information about who they're voting for, so long as it doesn't cross over onto any sort of vague propaganda or misinformation
