Euthanasia, the practice of ending a life prematurely in order to end pain and suffering, is currently considered a criminal offense. Proponents argue that assisted suicide affords terminally ill people the compassion they deserve. Opponents argue that laws legalising euthanasia are dangerous and could lead to the unnecessary deaths of senior citizens.
