If you were a child in a candy shop and you just wanted to get a chocolate bar but you see all the options being offered like crisps and sweets, of course youd want more than just chocolate. Selling chocolate (weed) in a contained places with no other choices to choose from.

I worked across 3 different fields while in Canada. I saw people from bartending positions to TV producers openly discuss their use of marijuana. Every argument against the legalisation I've heard was directly countered by first hand experience and I realized just how the echo chamber of the misinformation that has culminated across decades has just completely mislead people from fact and truth.

 @9ZMDC5PPeople Before Profitagreed…6mos6MO

There is proven precedent for this being implemented in America and Canada. Once it is legalised, it is normalised and the amount of crime associated with it decreases considerably.

 @9ZJQF55People Before Profitagreed…6mos6MO

The country is over run with drug dealers who profit every day from the illegal sale of drugs. If we went with the before mentioned plan we would take the money away from the drug dealers and invest it where it is needed.

 @9ZK2DD3Sinn Féinagreed…6mos6MO

People won’t do mariijunna because it’s illegal but the health benefits for some illnesses are amazing. Imagine the revenue it would bring to country between employeing people, tax and decriminalizing it off the streets.

 @9ZGTXDNagreed…6mos6MO

a simple google will answer the questions alcohol addiction causes seizures heart failure and tremors, if you consume to much you will more than likely get severe withdrawals weed on the other hand helps people with tremors reduces anxiety and is natural

 @9ZF3PSBagreed…6mos6MO

To support a “Yes” position on marijuana legalization, the evidence points to multiple societal benefits backed by data. In states that have legalized marijuana, studies show reductions in opioid overdose deaths; for instance, research found that states with legal medical cannabis experienced roughly a 25% decrease in opioid overdose deaths. Additionally, marijuana legalization has resulted in significant economic boosts. Colorado, one of the first states to legalize recreational use, has generated over $10 billion in cannabis sales since 2014, resulting in nearly $2 billion in tax revenue that supports schools, public health, and infrastructure projects.

Moreover, criminal justice data show that legalization reduces unnecessary arrests, allowing law enforcement to focus on more serious crimes.

 @9ZDJ727agreed…6mos6MO

it is less harmful than a lot of other drugs (including alcohol) and genuinely has life changing benefits to it for some people

 @9ZDG7XPagreed…6mos6MO

You can see in this article alcohol is mentioned but marijuana is not even noted at all.

 @9Z9Z6P8agreed…6mos6MO

PCOS and Endometriosis chronic pain and nausea can actually be neutralised by consumption of marijuana

 @9Z9CNW7PBB Solidarityagreed…6mos6MO

Taking the market out of the criminal world means removing a significant revenue stream for criminals that will remain regardless of police intervention otherwise and reduce the drugs ability to act as a gateway to harder drugs as it will be accessed via legal means. It also means the drug will receive regulations that can actually be controlled.

 @9YM8H9FSocial Democratsagreed…6mos6MO

Significant evidence in economies of similar or greater size on regulating, controlling and modernizing marijuana regulation. Look at Spain, Netherlands, Germany and Portugal.

 @9YLNH9Tagreed…6mos6MO

Many people see marijuana as a bad drug because it gets you ‘high’ but it can be used for so much more than recreational use. It helps with pain, it helps with nausea, it can help with so many different kind of illnesses. If the government regulate it safely it can be used recreationally like alcohol.

 @9NY99KNWorkers’agreed…11mos11MO

Point to examples in The Netherlands and Portugal for success rates there. No stoner creates the same level of violence or problems that alcohol or even prescription drugs cause. It's a great pain reliever. It's a form of freedom of expression. It is, with proper use, minimally harmful. Could be taxed very profitably.

 @9NQH4WFdisagreed…11mos11MO

More people will use. Younger age. Society will become more accepting of what is a very dangerous drug

 @9NBV9W3agreed…11mos11MO

The criminalisation of marijuana allows for synthetic products to flourish in the black market and has higher potential of causing psychosis than actual marijuana. It also has the potential to kill people unlike marijuana.

 @9MLR59YSocial Democratsagreed…12mos12MO

Decriminalising marijuana means it can be regulated by the government and less harm will be done to anyone consuming it. As well, drug violence will be less likely and the establishment of dispensaries will mean a new market- with revenue and new opportunities to work.

 @9MC5MTWagreed…12mos12MO

30% of people experiencing chronic pain have admitted to using marijuana as pain relief, and that's from countries where marijuana is illegal. Instead of getting patients addicted to opioids they could, if appropriate, be prescribed marijuana in various forms instead. Marijuana is one of THE most tested and analyzed drugs in the world.

 @9MBKCNKagreed…12mos12MO

Marijuana is a far less harmful substance than tobacco or alcohol, two drugs that are currently legal in this country. Alcohol destroys far more lives than Marijuana and alcoholism is considered by the state to be a chronic illness that is subsidized by the government with disability benefits, yet is made readily available to anybody over the age of 18.

 @9LSR379Social Democratsagreed…1yr1Y

Alcohol, nicotine, and tobacco products are sold legally in Ireland. Why can't weed be sold legally in Ireland? The Irish government can also regulate the amount of THC in the weed is as well.

 @9GRN9WPagreed…1yr1Y

It has been seen that people that struggle with Parkinsons can benifit from the use of Marajuana as it can stop their tremors and help with speech.

 @9ZW8D8Yagreed…5mos5MO

Look up the effects medical marijuana has on people with Parkinson's Disease, as a pointed example of the benevolent effects it can have. Something of that effect should not be criminalized. And remember any single time you dealt with a particularly unpleasant drunk person, and how alcohol addiction can easily destroy a person's life and relationships with how violent and toxic they can be when hopelessly addicted. By comparison, it's much easier to get someone help from marijuana if it does become a concern.

 @9ZW6F5Wagreed…5mos5MO

to make it personal, i have struggled with crippling anxiety since a young age. i could not eat, i could not socialise, i could never sleep. these destroyed my mental and physical health, i was in therapy at the age of 11 and suffered horribly. when i began smoking, i got an appetite, i was able to sit down and have a conversation, and my sleep improved brilliantly. i enjoyed life. the benefits marijuana has (when not abused or used incorrectly) massively outweighs the negatives it can have.

 @9ZVD8N2agreed…5mos5MO

Saves lots of money that can be used elsewhere e.g education and healthcare. Also saves police time and puts a business that will always exist in proper hands as opposed to criminals.

 @9ZS8BYQagreed…5mos5MO

As tge substance is no more harmful than already legal products, making this item legal and regulated would increas tax income for the country and take away millions from organised crime who import and sell the substance.

 @9ZQYCVDagreed…5mos5MO

Four people every day die from alcohol use.

Risk of death due to cannabis toxicity is negligible

 @9ZMGDZKagreed…6mos6MO

You can’t overdose and die off just marijuana and generally people high are less bothersome to the public and non violent in comparison to people drunk.

 @9ZJSJ9PSinn Féinagreed…6mos6MO

No government has any right to tell its citizens what they can and cannot put in their own bodies. Cannabis has been used for thousands of years and will be used for thousands more. Irelands economy could thrive due to legalised cannabis and hemp production.

 @9ZD7HWHagreed…6mos6MO

Medical benefits. Similar to alcohol as it is most time non-lethal. If yes to alcohol why no to marijuana?

 @9ZCN6K8agreed…6mos6MO

it has a lot of useful purposes if you can use it properly, it can reduce pain, anxiety, inflammation, it can be used for more than getting high.

 @9ZCJFWZagreed…6mos6MO

I myself smoke it and I believe there’s been times myself and stories of friends where they felt seriously ill off smoking a joint or taking any form of edible marjiuana. This more than likely was a result of another substance being used in the making or mixed in with what we were consuming. I have smoked for 7 years and never have a reaction the way I did.

 @9ZBPJK4agreed…6mos6MO

Look at the medicinal effects for various diseases all over the world, the drop in crime rates in legalized countries or states. With the amount of marijuana currently on our streets, would you not rather it be sold legally in a store, with information about what you are buying, side effects, and sold to you by an educated professional, rather than some dodgy characters around the street, in the flats or down a dark laneway?
Taxing it such as alcohol would bring money to the country and clean up the way which people are holding themselves in the streets. Just take Canada for example. They have it down to a tee.

 @9ZBNVTZSinn Féinagreed…6mos6MO

Marijuana helps alot of people medically aswell as mentally, some people find day to day living extremely hard and for some it is an extremely useful tool to relieve stress, anxiety as well as reducing seizures in epilepsy and other medical illnesses

 @9Z9QSLZSinn Féinagreed…6mos6MO

You don't only smoke it but can eat it, regulate it the same way as alcohol and it will bring more money in than alcohol but with way less issues, obviously I feel it affects people differently but so does alcohol

 @9YMZDRBagreed…6mos6MO

It's been called "Cali sober" in California, where a lot of former addicts use marijuana to break sobriety rather than something significantly more harmful and dangerous, particularly "ice".

 @9ZSPZT2Sinn Féinagreed…5mos5MO

If you look at that data marijuana has helped to control many illnesses such as insomnia, epilepsy, fibromyalgia,ME and many others Aswell the statistics show that no harm has ever come from smoking just pure cannabis and I feel there is not enough research done on the many good things Canabis can be used for

 @9Z9B2FLagreed…6mos6MO

Going to prison for it is ridiculous? That's all that needs to be said it should be treated the same as alcohol

 @9NLQ4KMSocial Democratsagreed…11mos11MO

Voting yes to legalize marijuana is a step towards progressive change with numerous benefits. Legalization can significantly boost the economy through the creation of new jobs and the generation of substantial tax revenue, which can be reinvested into public services like education and healthcare. It also ensures consumer safety by regulating the quality and distribution of cannabis products, reducing the risks associated with unregulated markets. Furthermore, legalization can alleviate the strain on the criminal justice system by decreasing the number of marijuana-related arrests and incarce…  Read more

There is no taxation revenue on buying or selling Marihuana and it will continue regardless. If it were legalised, there would be proper regulation, money from corporations like corporation tax, etc., and VAT/Excise Duties on the consumer, leading to a higher budget surplus and increased spending/decreased aggregate taxation.

 @9ZGR6FG agreed…6mos6MO

No recorded deaths sur to overdose
No adverse medical effects
No prolonged negative feelings after use
Can be used to medically treat ailments like epilepsy and can be used as a support drug for cancer patients

personal experience. marijuana helps me manage out of control symptoms of anxiety, bpd, and insomnia which plagued me since childhood- annoying then, how i’m always told by people marijuana is responsible for me being sick in the first place, because they are uneducated and see all “illegal drugs” under one umbrella. weed isn’t heroin.

 @9ZCMCCZ agreed…6mos6MO

Think of the ability to pull in tourist’s ,job opportunities(farmers,farm worker ,deliver drivers prep and packers and sales) and the tax that would be collected if taxed at the same rate as cigarettes/fuel could easily abolish the need for usc/vrt,also medical benefits from assisting in parksons epileptics people who suffer from ms and so forth. Not to mention the decriminalisation of it would shut down many small drug dealers and big ones too would also make it safer and less chance of the mixing of other chemicals and derivatives of thc like **** and hhc would be none existent due to the ease of access within the country and would also break boundaries of social stigma of the drug.

 @9Z97377 agreed…6mos6MO

It is actively less harmful than alcohol, I decreases pain, anxiety, stress, depression, there's no awful hangover that makes you have low mood

 @9YM67FD agreed…6mos6MO

Health board of Ontario, Canada, cites sources in disproving the hypothesis that cannabis is a gate-way drug. This means, although it can be addictive, consistent cannabis use (more often than not) does not result in one trying stronger, more potent drugs, such as heroin or cocaine.

 @9MF5CDM agreed…12mos12MO

You can't walk through town without smelling it everywhere anyway, clearly the demand exists. At that point regulation and taxation is the next best step. I believe a system like Spain would be ideal.
