Trade suspension refers to halting the exchange of goods, services, and financial activities between countries. In this context, it would mean ending or reducing economic interactions with Israel as a response to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Proponents argue that suspending trade applies pressure on Israel to pursue peaceful resolutions and signals opposition to human rights abuses. Opponents argue that trade suspensions harm diplomatic relations, hurt economic interests on both sides, and may escalate tensions rather than promote peace.

No

If we suspend trade with Israel then we should also suspend trade with the UK until the Northern Irish territory is returned to the Republic of Ireland.
@9ZTSYQR3mos3MO
The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner and the prospect of suspending the favourable terms under which that trade takes place is a powerful weapon in the bloc’s arsenal that it may be difficult to get political consensus to use.
@9ZHKPPS4mos4MO
Lessen trade but I don’t know to what extent we trade with them. We should stand for morality but not hurt our own economy in the process
@B2NL5D44wks4W
No, but if there is undeniable evidence that the money that Israel make by trading with Ireland goes to funding weapons in the Israel-Hamas conflict then the Irish government should immediately suspend trade with Israel.
@B22DPSDSocial Democrats3mos3MO
Yes, Ireland should cease trade relations with any countries who perpetrate or facilitate war crimes.
@9ZX76R33mos3MO
Yes, but because of Israeli oppression of, and discrimination against Palestinians, including those in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Not just Israel's part in the Israel Hamas war.
@9ZWW7F83mos3MO
Yes and they should also hold all people of an Isreali citizenship in Ireland hostage until the war ends
@9ZVZV4G3mos3MO
This is a difficult question with many nuances. Hamas is a terrorist organisation with the goal of destroying Israel. But Israel is committing Domicide in Gaza, making it impossible for the population to live there.
@9ZVZMYP3mos3MO
Trade with Israel should ONLY benefit children and vulnerable people living there who are NOT involved with the conflicts. Citizens are still citizens. Palestine should be the priority for any aid provided by Ireland
@9ZVN7663mos3MO
It’s not Israel-Hamas, it’s literally Israel committing genocide. Would you call the freedom fighters from the 1916 rising terrorists?
@9ZVDPHY3mos3MO
There are more important issues in Ireland that the government should be focused on. Not a war that has nothing to do with us when we are a neutral country.
@9ZV2KYFSocial Democrats3mos3MO
It is not my desire to unfairly penalise the innocent citizens that are living it what is now know as Isreal, formally known as Palestine.
However, the savagely disproportionate response from Isreal's governing body in their devastating attacks on Gaza cannot go unpunished.
It is up to our globaly community to strive towards peace and prosperity for all, therefore those commit unspeakable acts of violence must held accountable on a global level. So, yes, I do feel that until we have a permanent ceasefire and a conflict free resolution Ireland must suspend trade with Israel.
no, but we should lessen trade until the trouble has ended. We should stand for morality but not hurt our own economy in the process
@9ZKMLLN3mos3MO
Depends on who they are trading with, do a huge background search and make sure it’s for good and not bad
@9ZK6XY63mos3MO
No because a fair population of Israel is against the war so why should they suffer? & what is happening in Gaza, the reason it started is because Oct 7th 2023 3,000 Hamas leaders came from Gaza kidnapping 1,500 isrealis & killing brutally raping & burning 1,500 additional isrealis Hamas is not innocent, there is no winners in war.
@9ZJXB9FSocial Democrats3mos3MO
Yes, Israel are causing a genocide. All trade must cease immediately, otherwise we support them. A two week old newborn went into cardiac arrest and died after hearing a bomb fall. A bomb supplied by the US.
@9ZJ4RLCSocial Democrats3mos3MO
Yes, with a large emphasis that the October attack is not forgotten but the bloodshed in response has gone on far too long
@9ZSKYHR3mos3MO
No, because it would economically disadvantage us, but we should promote Palestinian business and increase aid.
@9ZQN75R3mos3MO
At the beginning I would have said no, but it has been taken too far and I believe it must happen now
This war never needed to happen, all parties as as guilty as each other. This needs to stop and lives of children to be spared. Not suspend but demand peace
@9ZKWJGDSocial Democrats3mos3MO
This is not feasible due to Irish trade with Israel falling under the EU-Israel Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
@B3BS5L219hrs19H
NO Ireland should stop helping Hamas with aid ,till they give back the hostages to Isreal. Ireland should not be helping a terrorist organisation wage war on a democratic country.
