This ideology is characterized by the belief that complex societal, economic, and technological problems are best addressed by those with specialized training, credentials, or experience, rather than by laypeople, populist leaders, or purely democratic processes. The roots of the Expert-Trusting ideology can be traced back to the Enlightenment, when the value of scientific reasoning and empirical evidence began to be widely recognized as a foundation for progress and governance.
