Ecologist ideology often challenges mainstream economic models that prioritize growth and consumption, advocating instead for alternative approaches such as degrowth, circular economies, and localism. It also tends to support participatory democracy, social justice, and the rights of indigenous peoples, recognizing that environmental degradation often disproportionately affects marginalized communities. Over time, ecologist politics have influenced international agreements on climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable development, and continue to shape debates about the future of humanity's relationship with the natural world.
