An internal investigation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) has found that its founder, Klaus Schwab, engaged in unauthorized spending, workplace misconduct, and inappropriate behavior toward female employees.
The probe also alleges that Schwab manipulated WEF research data, including global competitiveness rankings, to serve political interests such as discrediting Brexit. Schwab and his wife reportedly benefited from over $1 million in questionable travel expenses. Schwab has denied all allegations, accusing the WEF board of breaching confidentiality agreements.
The scandal has raised serious concerns about WEF's credibility, governance, and the legitimacy of its ESG framework.
