Unfortunately we have a housing crisis in Ireland. Our government is currently not capable of managing to house or accommodate our own citizens not to mind immigrant or refugees. There is a very real problem happening now where Irish people are homeless in their thousands and the government are bringing in people from other countries, housing them and giving them benefits. The current government is creating an opportunity regrettably that is going to increase the possibility of racism/violence as a result of this. Irish people feel and are being abandoned by their own government and then see that same government looking after immigrants. I think it is right to help refugees but this needs to be done carefully and the government cannot forget about their own people. Also we are a small country in comparison to others and we simply do not have the capacity to accommodate everyone. The refugees coming into the country are genuinely in need and fleeing from unimaginable suffering. However in their own right so too are Irish citizens struggling and suffering. It is a case where the government are letting everyone down and no one wins but the government financially profiting off this. They are creating some seriously dangerous conditions as it is and increasing this will only make matters worse.
