Smart transportation infrastructure uses advanced technology, such as smart traffic lights and connected vehicles, to improve traffic flow and safety. Proponents argue that it enhances efficiency, reduces congestion, and improves safety through better technology. Opponents argue that it is costly, may face technical challenges, and requires significant maintenance and upgrades.
Yes, especially with the LEAP card, and don't make it so long to receive one. You should be able to pay with card for everything transport. You should be charged like the Dutch Public Transport System, by distance, instead of a fixed amount to go 1 or 10 stops.
There has to be a train connection to and from Dublin Airport. The metrolink is decades away. Just build a twice an hour train between Dublin airport to a DART station. You could even allow the train to ride across the road like the LUAS.

Absolutely, the luas and the dublin bus are useless
@9YMJ5PX 9mos9MO
Yes, but only if it is properly implemented and funding is spent correctly
@9YLPJ3G9mos9MO
No, they need to worry about getting what we have better before looking into smart transportation.
@9YLKSJH9mos9MO
I think we should focus on public transport rather than private transport
@9YKVVR79mos9MO
yes but it is not the most important issue at hand
Need to invest in current transport infanstructure first
@9ZBKNT59mos9MO
They should as long as the system works efficiently and has little risk of failing
@9ZBH6BC9mos9MO
There's more infrastructure that requires investment not just Dublin
@9Z9LZJ79mos9MO
it is not a major issue that the taxpayers money should be going towards, there are many more pressing issues to attend to first.
@9Z979SP9mos9MO
If smart refers to autonomous cars and such, no. It should instead invest more into public transit, buses and trams etc. Cars will not fix anything and will in fact make it worse
@9YN5WVW9mos9MO
They should add basic transportation infrastructure in rural areas first
@9W7R36X9mos9MO
Yes as along as their is heavy human interaction with these new infrastructures
@9RGDDQG1yr1Y
Look in to the maintainance costs and if it can be improved over time to almost self sustaining then yes
@9ZCSKMS 9mos9MO
Yes but more investment into rural roads as opposed to all money being spent on Dublin.
Money could be being spend elsewhere like in medical cases or in homelessness
@9ZCY2XR9mos9MO
The government should certainly invest in upgrades in infrastructure, but it would be more cost effective and probably better for the environment to upgrade Ireland's railway system. Trains are the best way to move people, reducing congestion
