No

My uncle had a serious heat condition and had an appointment in Dublin. Public transport was not available as he was travelling for the other side of the country so I drove him. Have another dozen examples of this. Public transport is non existent in rural Ireland. So we have no choices in getting to bigger urban area. Simple. Anyone that says otherwise is a clown.

Cost of living is already too high if we pay congestion charges come in it can cause people not to be able to afford to get to work causing more issues

driving has an enormous cost for society. To not have Congestion Pricing is to subsidise car drivers

Yes

It should be up to the government to make public transport more accessible rather than penalising people for having to use their cars as a result of the failures in a intergrated transport system

would you want to charge a single mother/father coming home from their job after a hard days work trying to put food on the table and trying to make rent, an additional fee that’s unnecessary because you don’t like how long it takes to get home?cop on

 @9ZTYF33 answered…1mo1MO

no until public transport is increased and improved then yes to discourage the use of personal vehicles

 @9ZT3FBCanswered…1mo1MO

Unreliable public transport is the leading cause for dependence on cars and private vehicles. The people should not be penalized for the governments lack of development of public transport.

 @9ZSZWLZanswered…1mo1MO

I think the government make enough money from people with all the costs of having a car in the road and parking

 @9ZR2QRLanswered…2mos2MO

Only if there is an adequate public transport system to meet the demand for people who will not use vehicles in urban areas as a result of the charges

 @9ZMM8LLSinn Féinanswered…2mos2MO

No, better management of elements of our road network such as light sequencing should be prioritised to minimise traffic congestion and instead emissions based charging/restriction's should be introduced as seen in most countries in mainland Europe (Germany, Spain, France)

 @9ZBDVLBanswered…2mos2MO

Yes they should but not if there is not sufficient public transport infrastructure in the city

 @9Z9WFY7answered…2mos2MO

No, in cities like Paris it does not decongest traffic and only adds to driver’s frustrations and stress when parking, which could result in accidents.

 @9YNDBVVanswered…2mos2MO

yes but only if that money were put directly into funding public transportation measures

No. The cost of living is bad enough. Stop pushing extra costs onto the people.

 @9MQSRDM answered…8mos8MO

Yes but public transport would need to be in place to allow easy access to cities

 @9MNMLP9answered…8mos8MO

They should make it more accessible in other ways so people aren’t solely dependent on their cars.

 @9MNL5Y6answered…8mos8MO

Not until there is a very efficient and working public transport system that makes it viable to do so

 @9MMRML2 answered…8mos8MO

 @9MMNZJ6answered…8mos8MO

Yes, and it should be controlled by the local councils with all payments remaining in said councils to help fund public transport

 @9MMD24Ganswered…8mos8MO

 @9MLTGQWanswered…8mos8MO

Yes but only if they sort out public transport e.g park and ride facilities

 @9MLSNR6Independentanswered…8mos8MO

Yes if there are viable alternatives in place (ie reliable public transport and cycling infrastructure). This is not the case for any city in Ireland.

 @9MLR59YSocial Democratsanswered…8mos8MO

Cities should implement better and cheaper public transport systems all around the country, and cities should promote walkability

The government should target owners of dangerously and stupidly large SUVs for congestion pricing
