Yes

 @9ZRM575disagreed…2mos2MO

Subsidies like this will artificially increase the price of new build homes buy that amount, 3000 will be added for example if the developer/seller knows people are availing of the scheme.

 @9ZJPPZ5Social Democratsdisagreed…3mos3MO

It inflates house prices by at least the subsidy amount and forces first time buyers into purchasing new built homes

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...9mos9MO

No

 @9ZRM575agreed…2mos2MO

I recommend listening to The Build podcast, only a few episodes but Rick Larkin brings in developers and financiers discussing this matter and more. Interesting listen

 @9NL8CL3answered…8mos8MO

No, they should be working on making house prices cheaper so subsidies are not required as subsidies just drive the price of housing up

 @9N8NN88answered…8mos8MO

No- we should be in a situation where they don't need to. Building needs to be faster, and more to drive down demand, and prices.

 @9NPYCYCanswered…8mos8MO

Yes, but measures need to be in place to prevent these subsidies from simply being absorbed by property developers - through increased prices

 @9ZW3T2VPeople Before Profitanswered…2mos2MO

Yes, and more so decrease the prices of rental property so the working class can actually afford a home they can call their own

 @9ZW2QGVSinn Féinanswered…2mos2MO

The current schemes are driving up the price of houses, making deposits more and virtually impossible to buy. These schemes also only apply to new builds not all first time buyers which penalises those who are not able to buy a new build.

 @9ZV5N3Manswered…2mos2MO

Yes but depending on the housing market - if the price of a home drops below a certain threshold then the subsidy be removed

 @9ZV359Kanswered…2mos2MO

If there's a way of making it so that the housing prices don't increase, making the subsidy pointless, then yes

 @9ZT3FBCanswered…2mos2MO

Yes, but this would ultimately further drive up prices, similar to the rent subsidy scheme. Help should be given o first time buyers, but banks, etc. must be closely regulated so that they do not take this as an opportunity to drive up costs and mortgages based on the fact that this allows more people to borrow/buy.

 @9ZSNF2Fanswered…2mos2MO

Yes but they need to be accessible to all, not just people who have a minimum that often means they don’t need help beyond that, and also there needs to be regulations in place to make sure that the ability to get help from the government doesn’t lead to hiking up prices

 @9ZS7T2Ganswered…2mos2MO

Yes, but only if this was made this available also for the purchase of second-hand homes and with a banded cap, instead of a straight cut-off.

 @9ZS7NGPSocial Democratsanswered…2mos2MO

No, operate 100% mortgage for anyone renting 5+ years who can prove they could pay rent consistently.

 @9ZR5NLDanswered…3mos3MO

Subsidies will only increase the amount people are willing to spend on a property which will just further increase housing prices.

 @9N6VX47answered…8mos8MO

 @9N66YJ8answered…8mos8MO

Homebuyers should not have to compete with funds. This drives up house prices.

 @9MWSLJJanswered…9mos9MO

No, it makes all houses more expensive, and encourages first time buyers to spend more than they can afford.

 @9MMRWJVanswered…9mos9MO

While it may be necessary now this only fuels the crisis continuing to raise prices and other policies should be pursued to lower prices.

 @9MLS6VLanswered…9mos9MO

Yes but there should be a move away from prioritizing home ownership with more focus on public housing

 @9ZK4LXCanswered…3mos3MO

No, but the government should pursue policies which will cause deflation of prices in the housing market

 @9NLLGK4answered…8mos8MO

Yes, after an extensive wealth check on their parents. only lower middle class and below should avail of this service, or those medically unable to work full time.

 @9NK3PMLanswered…8mos8MO

 @9NHZ76Manswered…8mos8MO

Yes, but manage it effectively so that there is no incentive for house prices to increase as a result.

 @9NGBPW2answered…8mos8MO

The cost of housing needs to be brought down (increased building, encourage production of materials in country where possible), not have the price kept inflated through taxpayer funds that go directly to the developer

 @9NB4N5Manswered…8mos8MO

Nit for first time buyers who have sufficient funds. There should be an income threshold and also amount of family money donated to be taken into account.

 @9MYWS96answered…9mos9MO

Any money provided to help with buying a house just results in more expensive houses as people have money to bid against each other. The only solution to house prices is more supply.

 @9MY38KGanswered…9mos9MO

This is an insane solution to the problems facing the public. A new charge here, a new break there, are we trying to become the US?

 @9ZF4X5JPBB Solidarityanswered…3mos3MO

FTB scheme should be considered short term solution. The problem is supply and demand. If more homes are supplied the inflated prices of homes will decrease and less people would require subsidies/ assistance. But yes, for persons/ families that are have low incomes should have access to government subsidies

 @9ZDQS6Sanswered…3mos3MO

Yes. Also if there is a couple where one of the people already owns/purchased a property the other person should still be eligible.

 @9NPM244answered…8mos8MO

Yes, couples where only one person is a first time buyer should also be able to avail of government provided subsidies

 @9N5YH8Banswered…8mos8MO

Subsidies to first time buyers should be given in a way that don't contribute to further house inflation. Today any benefits are directly added to the house final price making them useless

 @9NPYWG5answered…8mos8MO

Even if buying a second hand house. New or used houses, first time buyers are always having first time house.
