I think you should always be proud of your nationality, ethnicity and your heritage. Ireland has a long and violent history where we fought off the might of the British Empire and managed to establish a fully sovereign nation. However, there are a lot of different ethnicities living in Ireland today as a result of huge economic growth over the last 30 years which lead to a lot of immigration particularly from Africa and Eastern Europe. Many 20-30 year olds nowadays in Ireland are second generation immigrants and therefore identify as Irish so we should not discriminate against them just because they are different to us ethnically.
