We need to move towards renewable energy. Fracking and using non renewable sources of energy are what got us into this mess - clearly change is needed

 @9ZBHQHRdisagreed…6mos6MO

It damages the land and releases harmful greenhouse gasses (methane), advocates for fracking only care about profit

Irreperable destruction of the environment and pollution of groundwater and air has long term consequences. These consequences are not worth the cheaper gas. Invest in renewables

Destroying the groundwater and natural environment of less heavily populated areas is not a good tradeoff for cheap non-renewable energy. There are other ways to extract natural gas, and renewable energy is a higher priority over this insanely damaging practice that needs to become a thing of the past

It damages the environment no matter how many people live there, as well as there are other living there

Climate change is the number one issue facing humanity right now and any attempt at introducing fracking should be banned.

The extracted oil and natural resources will still be used for wider distribution by potential investors that serve in those sectors or similar, therefore it wouldn't matter on where the natural resources came from.

Oil use, as a non renewable energy source, should be decreased over time and replaced with cleaner renewable energy. It is no longer deniable that global warming is one of the Worlds leading issues and proof can be seen in the extreme weather conditions affecting countries around the globe. Fracking should be slowly eradicated over time as newer energy sources emerge.

This is a complete contradiction to all the environmental efforts that Ireland is a signatory to i.e. the Paris Agreement, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Just because it is out of sight does not mean the effects will not impact just the same. Ireland needs to act if it actually wants to hit its ambitious climate goals, and certainly they will not attain them through the use of fracking. Also, Ireland's land use is predominantly agricultural. Fracking in areas which are not heavily populated will seriously affect our rural communities!

It causes severe negative environmental impacts regardless of how close or not it is to civilisation

We should be making quick, impactful changes here. There should be no fracking. We need to make steps towards this goal. The world is burning.

Destroying the environment for selfish gain where extracting natural gasses can be done other ways, everyone just wants to use a quicker route at the cost of our planet :/
