It’s idiotic. A marriage is a symbol of the commitment and mutual love and respect between two people and to say that only straight couples can refer to their civil union as such only serves to invalidate the progress we made in allowing lgbtq+ couples to form a civil union.

There is nothing inherently wrong with homosexuality that should make it be considered different to heterosexuality.
