Public transport is necessary if we will have the population growth predicted. Our cities and towns couldn't cope with increased traffic. It's also important for economic development as well as the investment in infrastructure will result in economic growth.
Privatisation leads to companies putting profits and shareholders ahead of quality of service and workers welfare.
Privatised transport will inevitably favour the most popular/profitable routes which are currently more likely to bring money into the sphere of public transport allowing the state to provide necessary but less popular routes; private transport systems will neglect anyone not planning on travelling to or from major metropolitan areas and leave rural communities out in the cold.

We should. Public transport is developing at a snails pace, and with privatised budget and speed we could have a blooming transport industry. Also, the government shouldn’t have so much control over our transportation.
