Skilled temporary work visas are usually given to foreign scientists, engineers, programmers, architects, executives, and other positions or fields where demand outpaces supply. Most businesses argue that hiring skilled foreign workers allows them to competitively fill positions which are in high demand. Opponents argue that skilled immigrants decrease middle class wages and job tenure.
@9HXKX5611mos11MO
Increasing high-skilled immigration workers only in industries that need it and cannot find good enough talent locally or eu wide.
@9ZMSDTXPeople Before Profit 5 days5D
The current amount suits but I think they should be monitored as companies use this as an excuse to lower wages and higher cheaper labour, making working conditions awful for some.
@9ZJKR5H1wk1W
Decrease. Focus on retaining and hiring your own citizens who are paying for college education to enter roles in this companies, rather than ignoring applications from citizens and forcing them to emigrate when they don't particularly want to leave.
@9ZHTJJR1wk1W
I am currently satisfied with the current amount but the amount of paper work that current immigrat workers have to do to keep working here and the cost of it is ridiculous.
@9ZCWMTC2wks2W
Irish professionals should be given more of an opportunity to work in their own country and not have to leave to get better pay an jobs.
@9ZBK6G42wks2W
Less economic migrants people who go through the legal process and come here to contribute and work are welcome
@9K486Y89mos9MO
We should be making this country worth while to stay and work in for our own. Ireland is one of the top countries in terms of skill level. Irish tradesmen are exceptional but the government are driving them to find better places to make better lives through the rising cost of living and lack of housing. We work to live, not live to work.
@9JJWFYQ 10mos10MO
We should first address the mass migration of our own (mainly young) talented and skilled workers before any decision is made on this. In the meantime, increase to address these needs... and only once the housing crises has been resolved.
Increase, but uphold a level of background checking as our country's safety is the upmost priority over full economic employment
@9JD7NJC10mos10MO
The right of naturalised citizens to hold a second or more passports should be cancelled , any person not giving up their second citizenship should have their Irish citizenship cancelled and be deported
Personally believe we should stop being so greedy and looking to constantly expand to a late stage capitalist country , we should be happy with what we have and live quality lives . We are 100 years most freedom where our culture was washed out for 700 years yet people use Ireland for financial reasoning , I don’t feel like we have much culture or we had much time to recover our culture
@9HM7ZJW11mos11MO
Based on whether they are illegal or legal migrants. They need to have full documentation from the company they will be working in and also, no criminal records.
If immigrants are skill workers and primarily there main reason is to work and the governments main focus is to help Irish people to get right skills and help in high demanding jobs
@9H5D2FM1yr1Y
It is good to give visas for highly skilled individuals but as of now the government should first work on reliable housing before bringing in even more people who will struggle for accommodation.
Increase, but not to Jews and Israelis, who can bloodsuck and swindle in the US where the entire political system revolves around their whims and feelings and need to have more than everyone else while crying victim
@9TK4TV92mos2MO
The amount of visas can be increased or decreased as the market requires but the amount should be monitored. If the amount exceeds a pre-agreed target the government should suspend the visa offer to maintain social cohesion
Increase, in line with evident skills shortages, but ONLY if the capacity of public services are increased for the increased population
Increase, but only when qualified EU workers are unavailable or uninterested.
@92NBW3C3yrs3Y
Keep as is, but incentivize citizens to work/study in the areas they are given in
@92FCTRC3yrs3Y
Increase, as long as the company can prove that they cannot find a suitable candidate locally.
@8Q28JGW4yrs4Y
Increase as we require their skill but pay them proper wages
@8PZVY464yrs4Y
@8C5RDBV4yrs4Y
Irish nationals should be given first preference in all positions and pumped out of schools based on market demand. Fewer immigrants should be brought in but a points based system should be implemented where there are skill shortages.
@8Q4TNP94yrs4Y
No, there should be no foreign workers
@99V72GY2yrs2Y
Minimum wages is waste of energy when liars does given a ok updated and lifted smooth amount people's money checked not scammed or fraud Ute's
@99MFYPQ2yrs2Y
High immigration is welcome but low-unskilled immigrations is being abused by businesses
@98B83P32yrs2Y
Increase, but provide citizens with more incentives to go into these jobs and make it so employers can't take advantage of them.
@97PZ24H2yrs2Y
Increase in areas were we fall short, and also provide incentives for our own citizens to do these jobs.
No, focus on current students (foreign or domestic) as pipeline for talent.
