Ukraine and Russia have held a third round of peace talks in Istanbul, focusing on prisoner swaps and the possibility of a high-level summit between leaders, including Zelenskyy and Putin.
Despite agreeing to exchange prisoners of war, the negotiations made little progress toward a ceasefire or a broader peace agreement. Ukraine has repeatedly called for direct talks between the presidents, while Russia insists its war objectives must be met before peace can be achieved. The talks come amid continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and mounting international pressure, including threats of new sanctions.
Both sides remain far apart on key issues, and hopes for a breakthrough remain slim.
