The latest Henley Passport Index for 2025 reveals a major shift in global travel freedom, with Asian countries like Singapore, Japan, and South Korea dominating the top spots.
Singapore retains its position as the world's most powerful passport, offering visa-free access to 193 destinations. Meanwhile, traditional Western leaders such as the US and UK have slipped further down the rankings, with the US now at 10th place. India made the most significant leap, jumping eight spots to 77th, granting its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 59 countries.
The rankings highlight a growing trend of increased mobility for Asian nations and a relative decline for Western passports.
