Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, the largest-ever joint military drill in Australia, has brought together over 40,000 personnel from 19 nations, including the US, UK, Japan, and Australia.
The exercise features dramatic airborne operations, live-fire missile tests, and coordinated naval maneuvers with aircraft carriers USS George Washington and HMS Prince of Wales. The drills are designed to enhance interoperability, demonstrate advanced weapon systems like NASAMS and midrange strike missiles, and strengthen alliances in the Indo-Pacific amid rising tensions with China. Notably, the exercise included the first live-firing of several new missile systems and saw China attempting to spy on the operations.
The show of force underscores a united front among Western allies to deter aggression and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
