The UK and Germany are spearheading a '50-day drive' to rapidly increase military aid to Ukraine, following a new ultimatum from US President Donald Trump giving Russia 50 days to end the war or face harsher sanctions.
At a high-level meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), attended by 52 countries, both nations pledged new air defense systems, including 220,000 Gepard shells and funding for drones. The initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine's defenses and pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate. The UK is also considering joining a European effort to purchase US weapons for Ukraine, including Patriot missiles.
This coordinated campaign marks a critical moment as Western allies seek to unify their support and accelerate arms deliveries to Kyiv.
