In response to a recent ultimatum from U.S. President Donald Trump giving Russia 50 days to end the war in Ukraine or face harsher sanctions, the UK and Germany are spearheading a '50-day drive' to rapidly increase military support for Ukraine.
This initiative, discussed at the latest Ramstein-format meeting with 52 countries participating, focuses on delivering air defense systems, artillery shells, and drones to bolster Ukraine's defenses. The UK has pledged £700 million in new aid, including 220,000 Gepard shells and long-range missiles, while also considering joining European efforts to purchase U.S. weapons for Ukraine. The campaign aims to pressure Russia into negotiations by strengthening Ukraine's position on the battlefield.
The move signals renewed Western unity and urgency as Russia intensifies its attacks and NATO allies seek to maximize their support window.
