yes, religions have been used as tools of oppression and suppression of people. there is different values in different religions regarding things like abortion etc. with no religious involvement people are free to choose and abide by their religions. if you're religion for example doesn't permit abortion, then just don't have abortions! but others can choose to have one.

Yes because the Catholic Church’s domination of Irish politics from the foundation of the Free State in 1922 until the late 90s was detrimental to Ireland’s social progression. Therefore I believe that religion and the state should be separate and not be as one entity.
