A regional passenger train derailed near Riedlingen in southern Germany, killing at least three people—including the driver—and injuring dozens more. The accident occurred when two carriages left the tracks in a wooded area, making rescue efforts challenging. Investigators believe that heavy rainfall caused a sewage overflow, which triggered a landslide that destabilized the embankment and led to the derailment. Around 100 people were on board at the time, with at least 25 suffering serious injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, but weather-related infrastructure damage is the leading suspected cause.
