The DOE labs have been running on massive federal budgets for years, and not all that spending is efficient or necessary. Private industry should be stepping up on innovation, not just relying on taxpayer money to prop up these jobs forever. Maybe a little fiscal discipline will force these labs to focus on what’s truly essential and cut out the waste.
