Honestly, it's not surprising that the talks fell apart—Hamas never negotiates in good faith and just uses these pauses to regroup. Israel has every right to defend its citizens and go after a terror group that's still holding hostages and firing rockets. People forget that no country on earth would tolerate what we've been through. It's tragic about the humanitarian situation, but at the end of the day, the blame lies with Hamas for embedding itself among civilians and refusing to lay down arms. If military action is what it takes to finally remove this threat, then so be it—Israel needs security, and peace will only come when Hamas is gone.
