Nigeria is experiencing its worst hunger and malnutrition crisis in years, with millions at risk as international aid agencies slash food and nutrition support due to severe funding shortfalls. The United Nations and humanitarian groups warn that over 1.3 million people in northeast Nigeria will lose emergency food assistance, and more than 3.7 million face acute food insecurity. Child malnutrition is surging, with at least 652 children dying in just six months in Katsina state alone, and 3.5 million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition nationwide. The crisis is fueled by resurgent conflict, inflation, and drastic cuts in foreign aid, leaving overwhelmed health centers and families with no support. Urgent funding and intervention are needed to prevent mass starvation and further loss of life.
